Sunday morning recap for October 26th, 2014

Message from October 26th, 2014

Steve spoke about “anxiety” in his sermon. What is anxiety?

In Philippians 4:4-6, we read: “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

We all experience anxiety, in one form or another. We need to call it what it is ... anxiety. The question is "How will we deal with it?"

To help, the apostle Paul points us to the truth that the Lord is present and engaged. “How does having the Lord present and engaged influence how we live?”

As Christians, one way we respond to the Lord being present and engaged is by praying. Do you pray as if the Lord is present and engaged?

In our prayers we ...

  1. Ask for help
  2. Say “Thanks!”
  3. Celebrate

Questions to ponder and share:

  1. What is it like to feel the “nearness” of God?
  2. How has God’s presence and engagement changed your life?
