We need to learn to break the vicious cycles of communication and replace them with virtuous cycles of communication. In our relationships and especially in our marriages, things are going to come up that we did not expect.

What are we storing up in our hearts? There are two ways to store things in your heart:

1. Through internal dialogue
2. Through things we absorb from the outside

Coaching tips for breaking the vicious cycles and having constructive communication: Start with that internal dialogue again:

1. Beware of the clever stories you tell yourself
2. What am I pretending not to know?
3. Establish mutual purpose:
4. Ask: “what do I not know?”
