Graduate and Faculty Ministry at UNC

Hank Tarlton

About Hank Tarlton

Hank Tarlton has served for over 25 years with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate & Faculty Ministries (GFM) at UNC Chapel Hill. His ministry focuses on planting and nurturing communities of graduate students and faculty who are committed to spiritual formation, authentic community, evangelism, service, and the integration of faith, learning, and practice.

About His Ministry

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Graduate & Faculty Ministries (GFM)
GFM exists to plant and grow witnessing communities of graduate students and faculty who live out their faith through:

  • Spiritual formation

  • Deep and supportive community

  • Evangelism and service

  • Integrating faith with academic and professional life

At UNC Chapel Hill, Hank primarily serves in faculty ministry, though he has worn many hats within GFM over the years. His work creates spaces where Christian scholars and seekers can explore faith, ask meaningful questions, and grow in community.

Ways CCC Members Can Help

Pray

  • Faculty Dinners: Give thanks for four faculty dinners this past year, each hosting 20–30 UNC professors. Pray for continued fruitful conversations as we plan four more dinners for the upcoming academic year.

  • Triangle Developing a Christian Mind Conference: Our inaugural conference in January welcomed 120 graduate students, faculty, and ministry partners. Pray as we prepare for the next conference in January 2026. Learn more: dcmtriangle.org

  • Triangle Faculty Roundtable Events: Pray for outreach and connection at our roundtable dinners, where many attendees are not yet Christians. We've held around 10 of these over the past 5–6 years.
