Message Recap for January 18th, 2015
Today Alex continued the series “Rhythms and Relationships” with a message on "Work as Mission."
We looked at Gen 3 (sin is an unwanted parasite) and 1 Cor 15:45 (Jesus gives his life-giving Spirit) in this week's message.
The work God has put inside us will impact all others and make a difference in a fallen, messy, broken world.
As we go into this world, remember that God has gone ahead of us and has prepared good works for us to do as a part of HIS MISSION to reconstruct this world.
Here's what work that participates in God's life-giving mission looks like:
Cling to the good news: there is one Messiah and I'm not him
- We embrace our limits and trust that Jesus is the one Messiah
- We ask "God, what are you already doing and how do I participate?"
We pursue excellence in our craft, whatever it might be
We take our context seriously and develop specific life-giving practices
- Your Work + Your Personality + Life-Giving Spirit + Life-Giving Practices = Life-Giving Outcomes
We learn how to interpret our life-giving actions that people might be pointed to God.
