Joy across the miles

Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown ...

- from Philippians 4:1

Paul keyed in here on both current and future realities as he wrote about his friends. And he communicated these realities beautifully.

In the present, he loved these people and they were his joy. His joy in Jesus overflowed into his relationships with his friends. But this present reality was not yet complete.

He looked out over the distance and longed to be with his friends. He knew that, one day, they would be gathered together in the house of the Lord. And, on that day, they will celebrate the great work they've done together and with Christ. But, until then, he longed for them.

Who do you both love and long for? Who do you care about but are separated from by distance?

Would you consider reaching out to them today?
