Wonderful Counselor

“And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor...”

- from Isaiah 9:6

‘Tis the season we ... pay attention to exchange policies.

Have you ever considered how extraordinary God's exchange policy is? All faulty, decrepit, and otherwise defective merchandise will cheerfully be exchanged for new, ultimately superior and eternally guaranteed products.

As with most exchange policies, the defective items must be returned before they can be replaced. Among the multitude of our defective self-parts that need exchanging is our propensity to DIY counseling. The wise writer of Proverbs describes that as "leaning on your own understanding" and goes on to point out that “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes.”

God wants to rid us of our foolishness.

He sent us the “Wonderful Counselor,” Jesus. All we have to do is bring our worn-out DIY counseling propensity and trade it in to receive Him. Then we learn to “Trust God from the bottom of your heart, don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all. Run to God!” (Proverbs 3:5-7a MSG)

Where do you need guidance from the Wonderful Counselor today?
