Trust in the Lord
1Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
- Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots, those powerful machines. Symbols of privilege and wealth. Riding high in their chariots, they feel well-insulated and well-insured. Those chariots cut straight lines through crowds and through life. Sure, some trust in chariots.
Some trust in horses, those beautiful representatives of nature's power and possibility. Latent organic opportunity linked with human ingenuity. Swift and flexible. They make us more free. Sure, some trust in horses.
But we don't trust in chariots or horses. We don't trust in 401k's or savings accounts or stable property values. We don't trust in résumés or in management or in education. We don't trust in material resources to secure us or in our efforts to improve ourselves. We trust in the name of the Lord our God.
What else are you tempted to place your trust in? Identify your "chariots" and "horses" today. Remind yourself today that - though your life may be filled with blessings - you will trust in the name of the Lord our God.

I used to trust people without thinking about it...got hurt so much. Now I know that I must trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding.
