New every morning

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

- Lamentations 3:22-23

What is a “morning”?

A morning happens when light displaces darkness. It is the time we wake up. It is a time of new beginnings, fresh starts.

Consider this—every time we turn to God and confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I Jn.1:9). When He does this He is being merciful. He is bringing His mercies to bear on our lives, removing the causes of our distress. Morning dawns in our souls. His light displaces our darkness. We awake. We get to start over.

So, look up! Morning is here! So what if it is noon or five or midnight. His mercies are new whenever we confess and we awaken to the darkness-displacing, new-beginning, fresh-starting morning.

We confess. He forgives and cleanses. Talk about a Good Morning!

Distractions keep me from doing what I should be doing. I pray that Jesus will help me conquer these distractions. Every day I disappoint myself for being distracted.
