King of Glory
Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
- Psalm 24:10
As we kick off our annual Summer in the Psalms series this Sunday, we want to give you a spiritual exercise that comes out of psalms like the one we’ve been studying this week.
The Bible is full of lots of different kind of literature. You have books of history and law, writings from prophets and apostles, true stories about Jesus, works of wisdom and apocalypse. But the largest book in the Bible – by far – is Psalms, a collection of poetry and songs that have guided and shaped God’s people for millennia.
They were often quoted and remixed, as you can see in Jonah 2 and throughout the New Testament. They were prayed in private and in community. They were sung.
Below is a link to a worship song that’s loosely based off of Psalm 24. It came to our minds as we were studying this passage this week.
We’d encourage you to listen to the song a few times and engage our King of glory in worship. In doing that, you’re joining with God’s people who, throughout the ages and around the world, have declared that the Lord Almighty is the King of glory and is worthy of praise.
