Current Sermon Series

As Chatham Church approaches its fifth birthday this month, there is much to celebrate as we consider how God has used our ministry to transform the community around us. Although this has been a year of change, God has done much and we are celebrating His provision for us. It is exciting to hear from many of you that a new spirit of ministry has taken root in our church. And with that second wind, we witnessed the launch of several new initiatives.

As we look over the past year, it is good to take stock in what has been accomplished for Jesus in our community. This year with God's help, CCC:

  1. Celebrated 3 people who professed faith in Jesus and 12 who recommitted their lives to Christ
  2. Baptized 7 people at Jordan Lake and at Woods
  3. Witnessed a record attendance of 296 at our Easter services and a record breaking attendance  at a single Christmas Eve service as well as record number of people who were served by the community Christmas Eve dinner
  4. Gave generously allowing the church to meet expenses every single month this year
  5. Served our community for Jesus through:
    • Church Has Left The Building
    • Feeding Our Friends
    • North Chatham Elementary Back Pack program
    • Chatham Habitat For Humanity Build
    • Providing food and man power for the North Chatham Food Bank
    • Partnering with Chatham Social Services to provide home improvements for those in need
    • Supporting Bella Donna restaurant's community Christmas Eve dinner
    • Holding Christmas Eve services at The General Store
  6. Equipped the Cole Park Ministry center for ministry - complete with furnishings and a new sign for the building.
  7. Sent two teams to Haiti to minister to orphans and to help with home building projects.
  8. Held a Beacon Of Hope yard sale to benefit women and children with aids in Kenya.
  9. Launched English As A Second Language class to benefit Chatham's Hispanic community.
  10. Launched a cycling class as a community outreach at the Cole Park ministry center.
  11. Provided office space for Young Life staff at the Cole Park ministry center.
  12. Implemented a team leadership model which is aiding ministry expansion.
  13. Launched the Lystra Road small group bringing the total number of small groups to nine.
  14. Established a relationship with Chatham Social Services launching a new ministry to aid those who need help but cannot afford home improvements.
  15. Sent youth to Fuge camp to have some fun, to build community, and to grow in their faith.
  16. Welcomed an interim pastor and his family to minister at CCC.
  17. Launched Chatham Church On The City, a new social media tool to help build community within our church family and beyond.
  18. Served over 50 children and 20 youth each week through The Chatham Kids and The Edge ministries.
  19. Supported Woods Charter School's annual fund raiser, Woods Rock, through worship team and congregational participation.

We are grateful for the many things that were accomplished. And we know that none of it could have happened without your commitment and service.  We are thankful for the partnership that we have with our church family in this ministry. In Mark 16:15 Jesus says "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation". We want to thank our church family for living out this command through your service to others.

This year has seen our faith in Jesus turned into action in many new ways. Thank you for being willing to serve as well as being a light and a blessing to our community. Looking over this list, we were reminded of a recent comment, "CCC is the 'doing-ist' church I know". And, we think that comment pretty much sums up our church family.

We are looking forward to 2012 with anticipation as we seek God’s will for this ministry as well as how best to continue our outreach efforts to the community.

Grace and peace to you,

Bob, Chris, Ken, John, Mark & Dave
