God's work and ours

2

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

- Ephesians 2:10

What will you see if you look in a mirror today?

You'll see God's handiwork. He crafted you and composed you, molded you and shaped you, created you and designed you. He loves what's he's made.

But that same glance in the mirror will also reveal traces of your work. Combs and brushes and lenses and tweezers and razors and "facepaint" transform what we see in the mirror every day. Apart from your work, you'll be disheveled and toothless.

Over and over again God works and gives work. He designed a garden and set humans to take care of it. He created laws and gave humans authority to enforce them. He made a path of peace and invited us all to travel it.

God expects us to be active participants in his work of ordering and sustaining the world. Making a meal for a friend, managing a complex project, teaching a child, talking to someone about God's love ... all of these good bits of work have been given to us by our God who loves us enough to include us in what he's doing.

Where do you see your work and God's work overlapping today?

It is my desire to really spend a significant amount of today with Jesus...and not let the distractions get to me. And to have kind words for everyone I see today.
